When you start a charcoal factory, one of the first questions you must answer is: “What kind of charcoal do my customers want to buy?”

The “shape” of your charcoal is not just about looks; it changes how much heat the charcoal provides and how long it lasts. Whether your market prefers the classic 25mm Cube or the modern 33mm Round “puck,” you need a machine that can handle multiple shapes.

Our range of equipment—from the 25-ton mechanical press to the 100-ton hydraulic powerhouse—is designed with interchangeable molds. This means you can change the shape of your charcoal just by swapping a metal mold.

Here are the most common shapes you can produce with our equipment.

1. The Classic Cube Shape (Standard and Mini)

The cube is the international standard for hookah charcoal. It is easy to pack, burns evenly on all sides, and stays stable on top of the shisha bowl.

  • Common Dimensions:
    • 20mm x 20mm x 20mm (Mini Cube)
    • 22mm x 22mm x 22mm
    • 25mm x 25mm x 25mm (Standard Cube)
    • 26mm x 26mm x 26mm (Premium Cube)
  • Which Machine? Our 25-ton mechanical press is excellent for mass-producing 22mm to 26mm cubes at high speeds (20 times per minute). For massive factory lines, our 80-100 ton automatic machine can press up to vipande 90 of 20mm cubes in a single punch!

Round charcoal is very popular in many markets because it fits perfectly on the circular ceramic shisha bowls. These are often referred to as “pucks” or “disks.”

  • Common Dimensions:
    • 30mm Diameter
    • 33mm Diameter (The most popular round size)
    • 40mm Diameter (Large round)
  • Which Machine? Both our mechanical and hydraulic machines excel here. The 25-ton mechanical machine can punch out 14 pieces of 33mm round charcoal 22 times every minute, giving you a very high hourly output of roughly 300 kg kwa saa.

3. The Premium Hexagon and Custom Shapes

If you want to target the high-end, premium market, you might want to produce shapes that look different from the competition.

  • Hexagon Charcoal: Typically measures 7cm long with a 5cm diagonal diameter. These are often referred to as “logs” and are designed for very long smoking sessions.
  • Custom Shapes: Because we manufacture our own molds, we can create custom shapes (like hearts, stars, or embossed logos) upon request.
  • Which Machine? For large shapes like the 7cm Hexagon, we recommend the 100-ton hydraulic press. Because a hexagon shape is thick and heavy, it requires the massive 100-ton pressure to ensure the charcoal is dense enough to last for over an hour without breaking.

Can I Change Shapes Easily?

Yes! You do not need a separate machine for every shape. Our shisha charcoal press machine models use a three-part mold system (the upper, middle, and lower parts).

If you spend Monday making 25mm cubes and want to spend Tuesday making 33mm rounds, you simply swap the metal molds. On our 25-ton mechanical machine, you should apply grease to the gears and oil to the bearings every time you change a mold to keep everything running smoothly.

Choosing the Right Thickness

Not only can you change the shape, but our machines allow you to adjust the thickness (height) of your charcoal.

  • Mechanical Press: Adjustable from 8mm to 30mm thick.
  • Hydraulic Press: With its smart induction probe, you can adjust the thickness from 1cm all the way up to 6cm.
