Horno de Carbonización Horizontal
Building a profitable shisha charcoal or BBQ charcoal production line requires complete control over your raw material quality. Relying on external charcoal powder often introduces impurities like coal dust or sand. The HX-Series Horizontal Carbonization Furnace allows factory operators to carbonize raw wood and shells on-site, ensuring a 100% pure carbon base for the downstream briquette pressing process.

Machine Structure: 3-Layer Insulation and Kiln Cars
Standard carbonization equipment typically uses a basic double-layer steel shell. The HX-Series upgrades this architecture to maximize thermal retention and reduce manual labor.
Three-Layer Insulation: The furnace body is constructed with a carbon steel outer shell, an inner steel liner, and a critical middle layer filled with lightweight, high-temperature insulation material. This prevents internal heat from dissipating into the factory environment, stabilizing the thermal decomposition process.
Boiler-Grade Sealing: The furnace door utilizes boiler packing and high-temperature rock wool. This creates an absolute oxygen-free environment inside the chamber, elevating the final charcoal yield rate to over 95% intact pieces.
Integrated Kiln Car System: To minimize labor intensity, the interior features heavy-duty steel tracks. Operators stack the raw wood onto kiln cars outside the machine and push the loaded cars directly into the chamber. This allows a single operator to manage multiple furnaces simultaneously.
Gas Recovery in the Carbonizing Furnace
During the thermal decomposition phase (when internal temperatures reach 150°C to 200°C), the biomass releases combustible gases, including carbon monoxide and methane.
Instead of venting these gases into the atmosphere, the carbonizing furnace utilizes a specialized flue gas separation device. It separates the heavy wood tar and wood vinegar, routing the purified yellow combustible gas back into the bottom combustion chamber. After the initial ignition phase, the machine sustains its own high-temperature heating entirely through this recycled gas.
Excess gas can be piped out and used to fuel factory boilers or directed into the drying room for your finished hookah charcoal briquettes, severely cutting your facility’s monthly electricity consumption.
Applicable Raw Materials for the Hardwood Biomass Charcoal Furnace
The primary advantage of this equipment is its physical capacity. Unlike continuous carbonizers that require fine sawdust, the hardwood biomass charcoal furnace accepts large, irregular materials without prior crushing.
Accepted Materials:
- Hardwood logs and thick tree branches
- Raw coconut shells and macadamia shells
- Bamboo segments
- Furniture factory wood scraps
- Pre-pressed sawdust briquettes (biomass sticks)
The equipment delivers a raw material-to-charcoal output rate of 40% to 60%, depending strictly on the initial moisture content and density of the loaded wood.
Technical Parameters and Daily Output
Matching the furnace size to your daily production target prevents bottlenecks in your crushing and pressing lines. Below is the operational data for the HX-Series models.
| Modelo | Dimensions (LWH) | Peso de la máquina | Total Cycle Time | Charcoal Output per Cycle |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HX-800 | 1.8m * 1.1m * 1.3m | 420 kg | 8 – 10 Hours | 150 kg |
| HX-1000 | 1.8m * 1.2m * 1.5m | 600 kg | 8 – 10 Hours | 200 kg |
| HX-1200 | 1.8m * 1.4m * 1.7m | 900 kg | 8 – 15 Hours | 300 kg |
| HX-1500 (Extended) | 1.7m * 3.3m * 2.3m | 3.2 Tons | 18 – 24 Hours | 1000 kg |
| HX-1900 (Extended) | 2.3m * 5.5m * 2.6m | 6.0 Tons | 18 – 24 Hours | 3000 kg |
Data Note: The “Total Cycle Time” includes loading, ignition, the 4-to-5-hour active carbonization phase, and the internal water cooling process.
Safe Operation of the Hard Charcoal Furnance
Producing dense, pure carbon requires strict adherence to operating temperatures. Operating the hard charcoal furnance involves a specific cooling protocol to prevent product loss.
Instead of relying on slow natural air cooling, the SL-Series utilizes the empty space within its three-layer structure to circulate water. This indirect water-cooling method drops the internal temperature rapidly without producing ammonia-contaminated wastewater.
Critical Safety Protocol: Operators must never open the sealed door until the external surface temperature of the furnace drops below 50°C. Opening the door at higher temperatures exposes the highly reactive, newly formed charcoal to a massive influx of oxygen, which will trigger immediate auto-ignition and reduce the entire batch to ash.
By following this cooling strict metric, the charcoal retains its maximum density. The cooled blocks are then ready to be unloaded, fed into a charcoal crusher, and processed into high-grade shisha charcoal briquettes using a mechanical or hydraulic press.
